Applicants must have a BS or BA degree with a major in Physics and meet the requirements of the School of Graduate Studies and Research and the Department of Physics. Applicants having other degrees that provide sufficient preparation in physics and mathematics will also be considered for admission.
Official transcripts of all undergraduate courses completed. IUP students and alumni will not need to provide their transcripts. Two letters of recommendation from professional or academic references. A goal statement that details your reasons for earning the degree. A resume or curriculum vita.
Applicants must have a minimum cumulative undergraduate grade-point average (GPA) of 2.6 (on a 4.0 scale) if their bachelor's degree was earned five or fewer years ago. If earned more than five years ago, the minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.4 (on a 4.0 scale) is required. The degree must be earned from a regionally accredited institution.
