课程简介
The Physics BS degree prepares students with the rigorous physics knowledge, mathematical tools, and scientific thinking skills required for graduate study in physics or similar mathematically intense fields, such as nanoscience, materials science, and climate science. It also gives students a strong base of knowledge and skills for work in engineering R&D, technically-oriented entrepreneurship, any career involving quantitative analysis and modeling, and science or mathematics teaching.

The department is small and friendly, and faculty members work closely with students on research projects in observational astronomy and image analysis, astrophysics, biophysics, computational simulation, electronics, particle physics, and science education.

PROGRAM DISTINCTIONS
Professors Aarnio and Miroshnichenko run the Three College Observatory, using it for their own and student research, as well as offering public viewing nights and course field trips.
The department also operates the UNCG Planetarium for use in astronomy courses and to benefit the Triad-area community. Its Spitz projector displays and animates stars, planets, and our sun and moon on the interior of its 20-foot dome.
