The Physics program fosters a hands-on environment. Students are quickly introduced to stimulating research in their first semester. Research areas include materials science, astrophysics, nuclear physics, high energy particle physics, condensed matter physics, statistical physics, and the physics of amorphous and noncrystalline materials.<br><br>This program offers unique opportunities and unparalleled access to the nation’s top scientific research institutions including the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the Vitreous State Laboratory (VSL), the Jefferson lab and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN).<br>Students have the opportunity to continue their careers in such national laboratories as the Army Research Laboratory, the Naval Surface Warfare Center, the Food and Drug Administration, the National Science Foundation, and the Department of Energy, just to name a few.
