The B.S in Chemistry has been designed to provide a balanced education for those students who plan to pursue professional careers in chemistry or in allied areas either immediately after attainment of degree, or after further graduate training. Students completing the curriculum recommended by the American Chemical Society may have their degrees certified by that organization. Students preparing to teach in the field of chemistry on the secondary level should consult the Teaching and Learning section of the School of Education Web site for additional requirements. Chemistry majors are encouraged to develop specific career objectives while pursuing undergraduate studies. Departmental advisers will assist students in exploring career possibilities and in devising a personalized plan of study that will best prepare them for their career goals.
