To nurture middle school and high school students knowledge and appreciation of the natural sciences, a teacher needs more than a foundation in chemistry.<br>This program develops teacher candidates knowledge and understanding of adolescent learning and development, educational theory, and best practices in science education.<br>This program prepares graduates to be classroom Chemistry teachers for grades 7-12. There is also an option to add an extension for grades 5-6.<br>Applicants to the program must have a degree in chemistry or a related field with a minimum of 30 credits in chemistry coursework. Applicants must have taken courses in the following areas: principles of chemistry, including concepts in inorganic, organic, analytical, physical, and biochemistry.<br>Qualified candidates who lack coursework in a specified area may be admitted conditionally but must make up the content deficit prior to completion of the program.
