WKU Chemistry provides an amazing array of educational and professional opportunities for our students. Students interested in careers as professional chemists should seriously consider the ACS-certified Chemistry Major. The Department of Chemistry at WKU is on the approved list of the Committee on Professional Training of the American Chemical Society. For certification by this committee of the completion of minimum standards (48 hours of chemistry) for the Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in chemistry, with the sequence recommended through your advisor. Sequencing for this major is important. For example, CHEM 330 is a pre-requisite for most of the 400-level courses in Chemistry, so needs to be completed by the beginning of the sophomore year if possible.
