WKU Chemistry provides an amazing array of educational and professional opportunities for our students. Our department is home to a growing number of vibrant and enthusiastic teachers and researchers who are dedicated to their students in the both the classroom and in the research lab. The General Chemistry Concentration requires a second major and is recommended for students who desire to increase the value of their WKU degree by adding a second major. This is a common choice among pre-professional students who begin their time at WKU minoring in chemistry and other students who desire a double major. The Chemistry Major with General Concentration allows for maximum flexibility. A second major is required. Many of our students choose biology or another science. A minimum of 33 hours of chemistry is required for the major. This major is often ideal for students planning for a career as a health professional, including pharmacy, dental, medical, and chiropractic pre-professionals.
