Chemistry focuses on the fundamental understanding of substances-their structure, composition, properties and transformations. Whether you are interested in working in a scientific field or teaching, the Chemistry curriculum will prepare you for a broad variety of careers, including medicine, dentistry and other health fields, pharmaceuticals, metallurgy, plastics, engineering, agriculture, biotechnology, and environmental science.<br><br>The Chemistry curricula is further strengthened through participation in research. On both the graduate and undergraduate level, you will perform high-quality research under the direct guidance of a faculty member who is an expert in his or her field. This unique research environment provides valuable experience that is highly prized in industry.<br><br>The B.S in Chemistry has been designed to provide a balanced education for those students who plan to pursue professional careers in chemistry or in allied areas either immediately after attainment of degree, or after further graduate training. Students completing the curriculum recommended by the American Chemical Society may have their degrees certified by that organization. Students preparing to teach in the field of chemistry on the secondary level should consult the Teaching and Learning section of the School of Education Web site for additional requirements. Our lecture series are offered online using Zoom and on campus in Lorber Hall.
