Doctoral Program 3.00 or higher GPA
An applicant was awarded a Master's degree at an accredited college/university in the United States and has been in residence in the United States continuously prior to application to SIU (not out of the country for more than one calendar year).
You have a minimum of 60 graded (A, B, C) hours of recent coursework completed at an accredited college / university in the United States with continuous residence in the United States prior to application at SIU. Pass / Fail, Satisfactory / Unsatisfactory, or Proficiency credit is not acceptable.
550 on the paper-based TOEFL
80 on the internet-based TOEFL
6.5 on the IELTS

The College of Science is a dynamic learning community of faculty, undergraduate students, and graduate students. This community is dedicated to the study of the physical and biological and information world. We promote the development of new knowledge bases in these areas of inquiry and the education of our students and the public about the tools of science and the discoveries being made daily both here at SIUC and in the broader community of sciences. The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Southern Illinois University Carbondale offers both Masters and Doctoral degree programs.
