An applicant was awarded a Master's degree at an accredited college/university in the United States and has been in residence in the United States continuously prior to application to SIU (not out of the country for more than one calendar year).
You have a minimum of 60 graded (A, B, C) hours of recent coursework completed at an accredited college / university in the United States with continuous residence in the United States prior to application at SIU. Pass / Fail, Satisfactory / Unsatisfactory, or Proficiency credit is not acceptable.

The Chemistry graduate programs can be generally classified into four areas of emphasis: Analytical, Biochemistry, Materials, Organic, and Physical though there is considerable overlap of faculty research interests among these areas. Our research work covers many areas of experimental and theoretical chemistry, spanning the traditional areas of chemistry. Many of our faculty have research programs with foci on the interdisciplinary areas of materials and bio-related research.<br>The School of Chemical and Biomolecular Sciences at Southern Illinois University Carbondale offers both Masters and Doctoral degree programs.
