At Binghamton University the geological sciences span the sciences to understand and solve some of the most important problems on earth. The BS is designed to satisfy the entrance requirements and expectations of the top graduate schools in the country. The BS is also the appropriate choice for a student seeking immediate employment as a geologist. The Department of Geological Sciences offers both BS and BA degrees in geology, a number of minors and combined, five-year programs leading to the MAT degree in earth science education. The BS degree is intended as training for graduate school and professional employment, with research, teaching and industry careers as the ultimate goals. The BS degree offers three tracks: geology, environmental geology, and geophysics.
