We are a department that has a long history of focusing our efforts on giving our undergraduate and graduate students a high-quality learning experience in both the classroom and the laboratory settings. We incorporate problem-solving sessions into many courses, have faculty supervision in all laboratories, encourage cooperative learning, and provide numerous opportunities for both formal and informal student-faculty interactions. We take great pride in our faculty-student interactions.This degree will serve as preparation for an entry-level job as a chemical technician in an industrial laboratory. You will take field trips to visit industrial laboratories, and you may apply for the chemical laboratory practicumactual work in a chemistry laboratoryduring your second year of study.This degree is especially valuable if you are employed in industry and want to increase your chances for advancement. When you finish the program, you may want to continue working toward your four-year bachelor's degree in chemistry.
