This is an entry-level program for individuals who want to learn how to safely operate heavy equipment in a variety of industrial settings.<br>You first get instruction on the general operating principals of diesel engines, electrical systems, drive systems and hydraulics, and safe work practices, as well as theory behind equipment operation, preventative maintenance and site management. You will also spend time on virtual simulators learning foundational skills for operation of heavy equipment.<br>Finally, you will spend several weeks practicing operating techniques at a mock construction site. Here you will practice the professionalism, responsibility and dedication required for work as an operator. You will spend time in and around excavators, backhoes, front-end loaders and bull dozers, and get exposed to actual site scenarios and construction plans in various stages of completion. The program concludes with a work term, where you complete your training in an industry workplace.<br>Career options<br>Heavy construction workers are in demand across the country and abroad.
