This degree is professionally accredited under licence from the Engineering Council and the Joint Board of Moderators. Our multidisciplinary first year encourages you to explore other engineering disciplines, such as materials or mechanics, broadening your subject knowledge as you progress with civil engineering and preparing you for real industry teamwork situations. Practical, hands-on experience is provided through projects and field trips in years 2 and 3, encouraging you to apply your theoretical design and construction techniques. Regional and national industry experts give guest lectures and share their experiences in year 2, while student mentoring in year 3 allows you to foster professional relationships with your mentor. Attending evening institution lectures also provides networking opportunities with practising engineers.
