Mechanical engineers specialise in the design, manufacture, and maintenance of mechanical systems, covering everything from aircraft and power stations to cars. As a mechanical engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of developing the technologies that power industries and solve global challenges. Our expert academics will also support you to think innovatively and work confidently in our state-of-the-art labs. Our Mechanical Engineering programmes have been accredited by the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAES) and Institution of Mechanical Engineers under licence from the UK regulator, the Engineering Council. An accredited degree will provide you with some or all of the underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills for eventual registration as an Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng). Our BEng programmes partially meet the academic requirements for CEng registration. Our MEng programmes fully meet the academic requirements for CEng registration. The industrial experience year can be taken in Year 3 or 4 of a BEng programme.
