Medical Technology is a healthcare discipline focused on delivering essential laboratory information and services necessary for disease diagnosis and treatment. MSU's Medical Technology program is one of the 240 existing programs in the United States. The laboratory results provided by medical technologists influences approximately 70% the medical decisions for patient care. Within this field, medical technologists conduct diverse laboratory tests, verify accuracy, elucidate the implications of these tests, explore novel methodologies, and assess the efficiency of these diagnostic procedures.<br>Students pursuing this major are required to secure a position at one of the affiliated internship locations, which spans a year from August to August. Currently, there are four sites: Jackson, MS (Baptist), Tupelo, MS (North Mississippi Medical Center), Nashville, TN (Vanderbilt), and Little Rock, AR (University of Arkansas Medical Sciences).
