In our mechanical engineering technology program — accredited by ABET — you will obtain the knowledge and practical experience for an exciting career in design, installation, manufacturing, testing, evaluation, technical sales or maintenance of mechanical systems.<br><br>You’ll learn all about design and manufacturing processes, tools and modeling.<br><br>You’ll take classes in robotics, thermodynamics, circuits and energy analysis. You’ll complete hands-on training in working with metals and polymers. You'll collaborate with faculty using cutting-edge technology — from 3-D printers to alternative energies.<br>As a mechanical engineering technology student, you'll be able to:<br><br>Complete a design capstone project in your senior year.<br>Some examples of past capstone projects are motorized target systems for the university police, wind turbine design, design and improvement of systems for automotive and manufacturing industries, and many other interesting ones.<br>Build race cars with CMU's Society of Automotive Engineers Baja Team or the Formula One team.<br>Have opportunities to work with and gain research experience from faculty who are dedicated to enhance student learning experience.
