In support of the mission and vision statements for the graduate program, the Civil Engineering Department adopts the following goals for the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree:<br>Prepare students to develop and conduct fundamental and applied research to generate innovative and original solutions for civil engineering problems.<br>Prepare students for research-based professional careers or academic careers in the civil engineering discipline.<br>Develop a culture of research/teaching scholarship among students.<br>Students may specialize in environmental, geotechnical, structural, transportation, or water resources engineering.
