The BS/MS option allows outstanding civil and environmental engineering undergraduates to complete both degrees with fewer credits than if taken separately. Students will be selected during the spring semester of their junior year.<br><br>Requirements<br>A minimum of 30 credits must be completed. Students in the 5-year BS/MS program are allowed to double count up to 9 credits at the 400 or 500-level towards both degrees. Within these 9 credits, no more than 6 credits can be CEN 400-level technical elective (not core technical elective) courses. Double counted courses must be in accordance with the Program of Study filed by the student and approved by the Graduate Advisor and the Graduate Program Director. A grade of B or better is required for the 400-level courses to be counted towards the MS degree. A grade of C or better is required for all graduate courses (500 level or higher) to be counted towards the degree.<br><br>Thesis Track<br>Six (6) credits of MS Graduate Thesis (CEN 590) must be completed. A master's thesis, and satisfactory oral presentation and defense of the thesis are required.<br>No more than 6 credits of individual study, including independent study and/or directed study, and excluding graduate thesis, may apply as credit toward the master's degree.<br>Project Track<br>Three (3) credits of MS Graduate Project (CEN 592) must be completed.
