Baccalaureate Degree: The applicant must provide an official transcript showing that a bachelor’s degree was awarded by an accredited college or university. If you are a UofM undergraduate student applying to Graduate School at UofM, you do not need to request that an official transcript be sent to Graduate Admissions. This office has access to your transcript. In addition, transcripts from any other college or university attended may be requested. Only transcripts received directly from an issuing institution are considered official. Personal copies are not acceptable as official documents.
GPA: The applicant must have earned an acceptable grade point average, typically a minimum of 2.5 on a scale of 4.0, but departments may make exceptions for students whose overall GPA does not adequately reflect their ability to succeed in their chosen field.
English proficiency test scores accepted by the University:
- Duolingo English Test-110 or higher on the overall score.
- TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) 550 or higher on the paper version, 80 or higher on the internet-based test
- IELTS (International English Language Testing System)- 6.5 or higher
- PTE (Pearson Test of English) - 59 or higher

课程简介
Biomedical Engineering is a broad field that focuses on improving health with the use of engineering principles. For example, designing new implants for those who suffer from hip fractures, developing tools sensing electrical signals to detect heart problems, discovering drugs to fight cancer and other illnesses are all possible job descriptions for BME graduates. Our graduate program is a collaboration with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC). We offer three graduate degrees in BME: MS degree with project, MS degree with thesis, and PhD with doctoral dissertation. Students can choose to work in the areas of Biosensors, Biomechanics, Bioelectricity, and Biomaterials. The mission of the Department of Biomedical Engineering is: "To educate students in the Biomedical Engineering discipline so as to prepare them for immediate careers at the interface of life sciences and engineering and for advancement in their careers in industry, the professions and community."<br>The University of Memphis (UofM) - University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) Joint Graduate Program in Biomedical Engineering offers M.S. (thesis and non-thesis) and Ph.D. degrees. The Joint program takes advantage of the resources of the engineering and basic science programs at UofM and the medical and clinical programs at UTHSC. All students entering the graduate biomedical program are matriculated in the Joint Program with their degree awarded from both institutions.
