This program prepares you for a career as a ship's navigation officer in the commercial marine industry. You build on your navigation training and sea experience with a focus on three functions at the management level: marine navigation, cargo handling and stowage, and ship operations and safety.You learn the theoretical and applied principles for how to manage functions that are required of a deck officer, planning and managing voyages, coordinating search and rescue operations, establishing effective watchkeeping procedures and developing your abilities to manoeuvre and handle a ship in all conditions. You develop your knowledge for how to plan safe loading, stowage and unloading of transport goods, and the carriage of dangerous goods.
