The minimum requirement for admission to the M.S. degree program is a baccalaureate degree from an accredited university. The minimum requirement for admission to the master's degree program of a particular department is an undergraduate degree from an accredited engineering program. Additional requirements may apply based on un-dergraduate performance.
The minimum GPA required from regular admission to master's degree programs is 3.0 for bachelor level courses. Provisional admission can be granted to students with a GPA less than 3.0. Provisional admission will be converted to regular admission after the stu-dent passes a set of approved graduate level courses with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Three (3) official letters of recommendation
Minimally accepted TOEFL scores, when applying for graduate pro-grams, are 550-paper; 213-computer; and 80 Internet. Students taking the TOEFL should have at least 20 out of 30 in each of the TOEFL sub-categories. The minimally accepted graduate IELTS score is 6.5. Indi-vidual IELTS test module scores are also reviewed in addition to the overall IELTS score.

课程简介
Modern structural engineering places strong reliance on applied mechanics and the computer. This emphasis is reflected in the graduate program in structural engineering offered at the Catholic University of America. The present areas of research emphasis in the Department are in structural dynamics and computer aided engineering. The work in structural dynamics proceeds along several fronts including the use of passive and active isolation systems in earthquake engineering applications. Research in computer aided engineering includes application of predicate logic to automated structural design, constraint-based design, geometric modeling, and engineering data bases. The success of such research has the potential to bring "intelligence" into CAD systems. The Department is also interested in educational reform in structural engineering using information technology (IT) methodology.
