For students who are intrigued by the possibility of combining a mastery of basic physics concepts with exposure to state-of-the-art engineering technology in growing high-tech areas, Stevens offers a unique Bachelor of Science degree in engineering physics (EP). The EP program is developed jointly by the Department of Physics & Engineering Physics and the School of Engineering & Science. Students in the program follow a special core curriculum that combines aspects of the engineering and science core curricula. This EP curriculum is tailored to provide students with essential engineering skills together with a foundational understanding of physical phenomena at the microscopic level. Students choose to explore the relationship between physics concepts and practical problems of engineering in one of three high-tech areas of concentration: Applied Optics, Atmospheric and Environmental Science, Microelectronics and Photonics
