Learn analytical, computational and experimental methods in the mechanics of solids, structures and materials. In our program, you'll gain a deeper understanding of the fundamentals of engineering mechanics, increase your knowledge and insight of recent developments, and have the opportunity to conduct research in groundbreaking technologies, such as nanotechnology and composites.<br><br>Careers<br>You'll be prepared for careers at the forefront of a variety of fields, including aerospace, electronics, automotive, manufacturing, software, and computer industries, because our coursework emphasizes analytical skills, scientific breadth and research awareness.<br><br>A minimum of 33 semester hours.<br><br>12 required semester hours in engineering mechanics: EGM 500, 503, 533, and 546.<br>9 elective semester hours in engineering mechanics.<br>6 required semester hours in mathematics: MTH 535 and 551.<br>6 semester hours of research on an approved project or thesis. Thesis or project research may be replaced by 9 semester hours of additional coursework only with the approval of both your adviser and the program director.
