A law school report including transcripts from all colleges and universities attended, and an LSAT or GRE score not older than five years from the date of application. Letters of recommendation: Letters may be from instructors, employers, colleagues, or others. Letters of recommendation should come from appropriate sources. Multiple LSAT or GRE scores: If an applicant has taken the LSAT or GRE more than once in the past five years, The University of Akron will consider the highest LSAT or GRE score. Interviews: Because of time constraints, personal interviews are not a part of the application process. Applicants should submit in writing any information they wish the admissions committee to consider. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS): The TOEFL or IELTS is generally required of all foreign-educated applicants. The preferred scores on TOEFL IBT (internet based test) are a 102 and 610 for the PBT (paper based test). The preferred score on the IELTS is a 7.5. Law School Admission Test (LSAT) or Graduate Record Exam (GRE): All foreign-educated applicants to our traditional three-year JD program must take the LSAT or GRE. This requirement will not be waived under any circumstances. Credential Assembly Service (CAS): Foreign-educated applicants must register for the LSAC credential assembly service.
Full Admission may be given to any applicant who desires to pursue a graduate degree and has a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with an overall grade-point average of 2.75 or better or 3.00 for the last two years (64 semester credits or equivalent), or holds an advanced degree from an accredited college or university in or appropriate to the intended field, or holds a baccalaureate or master's degree from a foreign college or university with first-class standing or its equivalent, plus satisfactory evidence of competence in English. intended field, or holds a baccalaureate or master's degree from a foreign college or university with first-class standing or its equivalent, plus satisfactory evidence of competence in English.
Original transcripts/diplomas or certified true copies from all universities, professional schools, and/or colleges previously attended (or currently attending) must be submitted to The University of Akron's Graduate School. If the institution is not English speaking, the transcripts must also accompany an exact certified English translation. Focusing on the laws of wills, trusts, and estates opens the door to a wide variety of lucrative career opportunities. Many of our graduates have gone on to become estate planners. Simply put, they assist clients manage and arrange for the transfer of assets to spouses, family members, charities, and others. Akron Law graduates also represent trusts, beneficiaries of estates, as well as the individual and corporate fiduciaries that administer them. Legal careers in this industry are available through private law firms, the trust departments of banks, and other private entities across the nation. Further, many of our graduates represent clients in fiduciary litigation involving wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and guardianships.
