Business Law is an intellectually challenging study of the constantly changing legal puzzles that face businesses of all sizes and types. The Program of Study in Business Law prepares law students for a variety of practice areas, including business transactions, commercial litigation, tax, nonprofit law, and more. Students who pursue this program are encouraged to take a wide variety of courses in various areas of substantive business law as well as courses that emphasize analytical skills and methodology. Generally, business attorneys tend to be focused on either litigation or transactions. Since many law school courses prepare students for litigation practice, the Program of Study in Business Law places a special although not exclusive emphasis on transactional practice: that is, helping clients achieve their desired business goals in a way that is both legally efficient and minimizes the risks of litigation.
