US-trained lawyers are defined as those who have earned a JD from an ABA-accredited law school;
Foreign-trained lawyers are those who have earned a first degree in law or its equivalent in a jurisdiction other than the United States. First law degree designations vary by country.
A minimum TOEFL score of 600 on the paper-based test, 100 on the Internet-based test, or 250 on the computer-based test is expected. Emory Law also accepts scores from the IELTS examination; a minimum score of 7.0 is expected.
Apply by November 15 to start in January or June 30 to start in August.

Emory's Master of Laws (LLM) is a highly customizable 24-credit-hour program designed for individuals with a first degree in law who are seeking to build upon their legal background for professional and scholarly advancement. Students can structure a curriculum around their interests, either through a general course of study or by focusing on one of Emory Law's many areas of strength. We offer a world-class faculty, a diverse student body, a sophisticated and dynamic urban setting, practical opportunities to apply legal theory and skills, and a global alumni network.
