Combining a legal and a business education offers unparalleled intellectual and practical opportunities. In the litigation space, attorneys who have a sophisticated understanding of clients? businesses and industry practices are able to better develop a winning trial strategy and negotiate advantageous settlements. In the transactional space, a solid grounding in law and business provides an attorney with a critical advantage in negotiating and structuring deals, including facilitating mergers and acquisitions both nationally and internationally. The JD/MBA takes four years to complete - one year less than if both degrees were completed separately. Students must comply with the admission requirements for both degree programs. The equivalent of five semesters (earning 77 credits) are spent at the law school and three semesters (earning 51 credits) are at the business school. Students who start in one program are welcome to apply to the other program and begin the JD/MBA in their second year of school. WashULaw and Olin Business School are top-ranked schools in their respective fields. Both schools have outstanding placement rates and offer an extensive alumni network. Students in the JD/MBA degree program have access to the incredible resources of the Career Center at the law school and the Weston Career Center at Olin.
